The Butler Chain of Lakes encompasses 11 sand bottom lakes connected by a system of canals. Lake Butler is the largest of the lakes, all of which have been recognized by Florida’s Department of Environmental Regulation for their high water quality— ideal for resident boating, fishing, water skiing, and other daytime water activities. Windermere was founded in 1915 and still shares a sense of community with its historic downtown area full of restaurants and quaint shops.
