5 Spring Cleaning Tips

As the old saying goes, April showers bring May flowers. Which means there will be plenty of time to spend the rest of this month inside, getting some Spring cleaning projects done.

But before you begin, consider making a checklist. Ask yourself: What needs to get done? Which projects are priority? Also keep in mind how much time you have on your hands. Don’t spread yourself thin. Start small and work on a single project at a time.

Here Are 5 Spring Cleaning Tips to Help Make the Season a Little Easier:

Cleaning the Fridge?

Start by tossing any foods that have already gone bad, such as forgotten leftovers. Then take on the cleaning. According to HGTV.com, the best refrigerator cleaner is a combination of salt and soda water. The bubbling action of the soda water combines with the abrasive texture of the salt to make a great cleaner.

Closets Need Organizing?

Think about all of the clothes that haven’t left their hangers in the last year. Could someone else benefit from these pieces? Donate unneeded items to a local shelter or thrift store and create some breathing room.

Drapes Looking a Bit Drab?

HGTV.com suggests taking them down from the window, removing the hooks and running them through the air-fluff cycle in the dryer for 15 minutes to rid that old look. But be sure to hang them up immediately after the cycle ends to prevent wrinkles!

Furniture Looking Furry?

Pet hair and dander can often leave its mark — And scent! — on home furniture. Vacuuming both sides with a standard vacuum cleaner will help eliminate dander and any lingering scents. Use the extender pole to get behind the furniture, too!

Gadgets Feeling Grimy?

Cell phones, laptops, TV remotes and other electronics don’t get the attention they deserve. They are the germ-keepers of the home, and often harbor more germs than a toilet seat. GoodHousekeeping.com recommends giving them a once over with an alcohol wipe to zap germs away.
